30th July 2018, Skopje - The Parliament adopted the Decision of Reallocation of Funds among Budget Users, thus providing funds for holding the national referendum in 2018.

New European-like Law on Excises offers many benefits for both the citizens and the business sector

30th July 2018, Skopje - Ministry of Finance proposes new Law on Excises, harmonized with the EU Directives. Many benefits are envisaged therein, such as lower excise duties for small alcohol-producing businesses. Under the new Law on Excises, small distilleries will pay 50% of the excise duty per litre of alcohol, while farmers - small alcohol-producing businesses will be charged 8.5% of the excise duty per litre of alcohol.  As regards the large alcohol-producing businesses, the excise duty remains the same.

MoF: Improved living conditions in the municipalities under 72 capital projects

29th July 2018, Skopje - Kindergartens, public facilities, water supply network, local roads - are all part of the capital investments realized last year through the Municipal Services Improvement Project, implemented by the Ministry of Finance. As per the data from the Project Implementation Unit within the Ministry of Finance, 72 capital projects were realized in 41 municipalities within this Project alone in the period from June 2017 to June 2018.

21st July 2018, Skopje - Fitch Agency announced that it affirmed Macedonia's crating at BB, with positive outlook. 

Tevdovski: We inherited rising public debt, which was put under control

19th July 2018, Skopje - We inherited rising public debt, which was increased by more than three times, i.e. from EUR 1.5 billion to EUR 4.7 billion in the period 2008-2016. Ministry of Finance successfully managed the public debt, whereby in 2017, the public debt was, for the first time after 9 years, reduced as a percentage of GDP, Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski said during the discussion about the 2017 Budget Annual Report in the Assembly.

Macedonian and Dutch Ministries of Finance to exchange experience and knowledge in financial system

18th July 2018, Skopje - Cooperation and exchange of experience in medium-term budgeting, debt management, tax policy and public internal financial control was agreed upon between Macedonian and Dutch ministries of Finance today. 2018 - 2019 Bilateral Program, on the basis of which cooperation between both Ministries is to be agreed, was signed.

Waste Water Treatment Plant in Radovis put into operation

18th July 2018, Radovis - Infrastructure projects, such as the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Radovis, contribute to both cleaner environment and health of the citizens. Such projects are lacking, while, on the other hand, the municipalities need them, Minister of Finance, Dragan Tevdovski, pointed out at the commissioning of the waste water treatment plant. Prime Minister Zaev, EU Ambassador Žbogar, Minister of Environment Duraku and Mayor of Radovis attended the commissioning ceremony.

Tevdovski: Better revenue collection in 2017 and greater control over the spending of public funds

16th July 2018, Skopje - Budget revenues in 2017 increased by 6.1% compared to last year, while budget deficit is by EUR 27.8 million lower than the projected one. After the Government came in power in the middle of 2017, Supplementary Budget was made, under which cuts were made, being related to advertisements, travel costs and entertainment expenses, whereby funds were allocated for increasing the minimum wage, resolving the issue of the redundant workers, more funds were allocated for the small- and medium-sized enterprises, as well as for the active employment measures, Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski said, when presenting the 2017 Budget Annual Report to the Financing and Budget Commission in the Assembly.

MoF: Introduction of Crowdfunding for greater access to capital for small- and medium-size enterprises

16th July 2018, Skopje - Crowdfunding applied in Macedonia, i.e. the concept of raising funds from large number of investors for financing companies, will contribute to greater and better access to capital for small- and medium-size enterprises, especially for start-ups. Possibility for introducing such manner of financing in Macedonia was discussed at the Council for Capital Market Development, being held in the Ministry of Finance today.
