IMF: Recovery of the economy as a result of the reforms and the restored political stability

29th January 2019, Skopje - The press release at the occasion of concluding the regular annual consultations with Macedonia within the so-called  Article 4, IMF Executive Board welcomed the revival of the reforms following the restoration of political stability. According to the Executive Board, this resulted in renewed confidence and a pickup in economic activity. With the prospect of opening accession negotiations with the European Union, The Executive Board underlined the importance of pursuing an ambitious structural reform agenda to lift productivity growth and accelerate income convergence, while also rebuilding fiscal policy space and external buffers. 

Loan Agreement for purchasing eco-friendly gas-powered gas signed with EBRD

28th January 2019, Skopje - The capital city will obtain new low entry eco-friendly gas-powered gas. Up to 35 buses will be purchased with a loan of EUR 10 million provided from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and EUR 1.8 million from the Public Transportation Company (JSP) as own funds. Buses will be put into operation through the streets by the end of this year.

Tevdovski: NATO membership will be a catalyst for economic growth

He points out that stability and international position the country gets when becoming a NATO member have resulted in higher investments, increased economic activity, unemployment reduction and better living standard in the countries that joined the Alliance.

Tevdovski: Fitch affirms successfully implemented fiscal reforms

19th January 2019, Skopje - Fitch Credit Rating Agency acknowledges the successful fiscal policy, pointing out the public finance system reforms, such as, pension reform, public procurement system and fiscal rule for municipalities, Minister of Finance, Dragan Tevdovski, said. Today, Fitch has affirmed Macedonia at ‘BB’, after it revised the country’s outlook to positive from negative.

19th January 2019, Skopje - Fitch Agency announced that it affirmed Macedonia’s credit rating at BB, with a positive outlook. Macedonia’s ratings are supported by a track record of coherent macroeconomic and financial policy, which underpins its long-standing exchange rate peg to the euro. The positive outlook reflects the stabilization of the political environment, resulting in a material progress towards accession to the EU and increased economic confidence.

PRO developed module for automatic tax refund

4th January 2019 Skopje - the Public Revenue Office has developed a module for automatic refund and offsetting for the purpose of regular and automatic VAT refund to companies and offsetting of advance payment of taxes to all taxpayers. This was underlined today during the working visit of the Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski and the Director of PRO Sanja Lukarevska to the PRO Regional Office in Skopje.

Set of 10 major reforms improved public finance in 2018

25th December 2018, Skopje - Public finance in the country were significantly improved in 2018 through the reforms pertaining to the tax, pension and social system, the public procurement system, the fiscal transparency, the prevention of money laundering, as well as the public debt management. It is a matter of set of 10 major reforms carried out this year. They will contribute to gradual reduction of budget deficit, control over the public debt, reduction of PDIF deficit, settlement of the inherited arrears and prevention of incurring new ones, better targeting of social transfers to all who need them, as well as greater fiscal transparency.

IPA grant for better teaching conditions for 500 pupils in Cerkezi village, Kumanovsko

7th December 2018, Skopje - More than 500 pupils in Cerkezi village, Kumanovsko, have been provided better teaching conditions through IPA grants. Grants in the amount of Denar 1.96 million aimed at renovating the Primary School "Jeronim de Rada", have been allocated through the Municipal Services Improvement Project, implemented by the Ministry of Finance, with support and funds extended by the World Bank and the European Union.
